Said from BT and my internet connection was compromised. Asked me to press 1 for more info. Looks like a scam.
Microsoft/computer scam call
Scam call on 20/07/2019 to elderly relative. Male told her she was under arrest! Said they were calling from Inland Revenue. She was transferred to a female who quoted a 'case number'. Relative put phone down. She was upset by call.
Message on answerphone stating that HMRC have arrest warrant out. Gave a'case number'
CLAIMING TO BE FROM YOUR BANK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BASTARDS
Indicated was BT and said my ISP had been compromised.
Thursday 16 May 2019 at 11:47 I got a call from 01205 324845. A recorded message stating that it was from OFCOM and my internet was going to be cut of because of some [inaudible] detected on the line. It then said "Press 1 for BT or 2 for [inaudible]."
Automated message stating internet will be cut off in 1 hour Press 1 to stop disconnection or press 2 for reason for disconnection
Asian male claiming to be from Microsoft saying my computer had been hacked. Said they would have no choice but to cut off my internet and the only way to get it back would be to go to Microsoft in Reading. Whilst he was on the phone I phoned Microsoft in reading and they stated this is a scam and to never allow them access to your computer which I didn’t. BEWARE
US accent saying that internet connection would be cut as it had been “ compromised “. Given choice of button to press to respond. I did not
